Every episode of Stories, Science & Secrets features a chapter from Rockford’s Rock Opera’s award-winning adventure, ‘Lost on Infinity’, in which Moog and his dog Rockford discover the Island of Infinity and its extraordinary extinct inhabitants. Then, following the chapter there’s a fun and fact-packed discussion about the many themes explored in the story.

Creators Steve Punt (The Now Show, Horrible Histories, etc), Matthew and Elaine Sweetapple (acclaimed musicians and writers) are joined by expert and celebrity guests too—including scientists from the Natural History Museum, wildlife TV presenters such as the brothers from CBBC’s ‘One Zoo Three’, comedians and many more—to delve into topics such as biomimicry, medicine, music, engineering, history, ecology and to answer listener questions. We look at how beetles are making water bottles, how whales are helping clean the ocean, a forgotten secret of the Natural History Museum, how cows are planning to take over the world, and lots more besides.

The Stories, Science and Secrets podcast will inspire a love of nature and present a hopeful, inspiring but realistic ecological vision. The show  addresses a significant need in
21st century well-being: Research shows growing and worrying levels of both ‘eco anxiety’, ‘eco overload’ and helplessness experienced amongst all ages, especially children.

Stories, Science & Secrets presents a hopeful and inspiring view of the future based on proven science and evolving ideas, especially in the field of biomimicry. Because, although the ‘Lost on Infinity’ audiobook became famous as a story about extinction, at its heart is the message that nature offers the solutions we need.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Stories, Science & Secrets will appeal to all ages, including parents and teachers, but our ‘sweet spot’ will be 6 – 9-year-olds (many of the subjects covered in the Podcast support the KS1/KS2 UK National Curriculum).
